Norman and I were hired to be the secure presence for the staff of a Garden Centre who must have been really busy over the festive period that they didn’t have time to eat and get merry! Therefore they were ‘celebrating’ down at Jethro’s Club in the heart of the Devon countryside. I was on the main door with the metal detectors and clipboard to tick names off and Norman was out in the car park trying to direct traffic and  with his clipboard writing names down. A bit excessive you may think to double check names, but with a private party in a public house and restaurant you can’t be too careful. Once all guests had passed through all our security measures, it was time to pack up and go elsewhere. After we had finished being security, I heard that these two Aussie waiters were also there causing quite a scene in the restaurant and laughter could be heard throughout the whole building. They must have been doing something right, or wrong (whichever way you want to look at it), because the big man himself, Jethro was in disbelief and hysterics overseeing all the goings on.

After a busy party season where we have travelled all over the U.K (and Nottinghamshire), we were up and about in Kent, near Tonbridge for a belated Christmas party for a load of bright sparks!…a company of electricians who are too busy to eat and pull crackers pre Christmas due to having their fingers in their toolboxes to fix electric stuff!! Steve and I were at the front door of the smart hotel where the party was taking place and ensured it was a well security checked party. Everyone was well behaved but did wonder why we had to be there? ‘A private party in a public hotel you see!’ Maybe getting all smokers to stand facing away from the hotel windows because it lowered the tone, was a little bit excessive…or not?! After we’d finished, these Aussie waiters were causing another talking point and energiser in the dining room, due to their antics and ‘waiting’ manner. There was laugher all round I heard.

Saturday just gone A1 Security Services, that’s Norman and myself (you must know the intro by now?!) were hired to ensure that the staff of a fishy company in Falmouth, Cornwall were suitably security checked before entering the dining area of a posh hotel (it had a spa, swimming pool, everything). Well that’s posh to me anyway! I only wished I’d brought my speedos with me. When Norm saw the pool he wanted to go commando, but I managed to stop him and get him into the car. Strange really, because he did bring a pair of trunks!! Alas, once everyone was in and we had distinguished between party guest and hotel guest it was time for us to go. Thank you and goodnight!
