They say (who are they?) that charity begins at home. It may well do, however myself and Head of Security Norman Bush were hired to ensure that the smartly dressed event goers at Westerham Golf Club dipped their hands in their pockets and handed us their tickets for entry!…
Yet again hardly anyone obliged and we were in a tricky situation whether or not to let these ballgown and dinner suit wearing people in or not? You can’t be too careful, I mean they could have been anyone!
At one stage it got so busy at the front door, what with there being a happy snapper taking photos for everyone, we were contemplating even having to create a chicane to ease the congestion.
The only time we have had to actually put that security measure into place was at an equestrian event, where loads of horsey people wanted to jump into a menage unauthorised.
This charity event passed off peacefully with no knives, guns or sharp exciting objects found. Lots of money was also raised for a good cause.
